FORDYCE — A Sunday morning collision involving an 18-wheeler on U.S. Highway 79 left a Dallas County man dead.
LaMarrieo M. Hughes, 33, was killed in the accident. Hughes, of Sparkman, was traveling north on Highway 79 behind a Freightliner that began making a U-turn from the outside lane of the highway.
Hughes, driving a 2011 Ford Mustang, drove into the 18-wheeler’s trailer and was killed as a result of the collision, according to a preliminary fatal crash summary filed by Arkansas State Police.
The accident happened at 5:15 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 6, 2022, under clear weather and dry roads, according to Trooper Tre’Vaughn Moore, who investigated the accident. The driver of the 18-wheeler, who was not named in the report, was uninjured.
Hughes’ body was being held at Benton Funeral Home in Fordyce.
