Thomas Hollingshead

Thomas Eugene Hollingshead, 88, of Amity, passed away Friday, October 28, 2022, at Montgomery County Nursing Home of Mt. Ida. 

He was a faithful member of The Amity United Methodist Church and a proud supporter of The Disabled Veterans of America. Thomas was very devoted to his family, his friends and his church. He loved to hunt and fish, and he also served as a camp host for the Corps of Engineers for 10 years, where he made many friends.

Thomas served his country during The Korean War aboard the USS Oriskany with The United States Navy. Thomas worked as a superintendent for Pavement Specialist Inc. for 30 years. During that time, he was as a mentor to many of his younger workers. 

He was preceded in death by his wife, Muriel Hollingshead; his father, Mac, and his mother, Dassa; his brothers, Reeves Hollingshead and Billy Mac Hollingshead; his great-grandson, Jackson Hollingshead; and his granddaughter-in-law, Mandy Hollingshead.

Survivors include his children, Mark (Sarita) Hollingshead of Hot Springs, Jennifer (Tim) Stinson of Amity and Molly (Danny) Young of Amity; his grandchildren, Crystal Smith, Daniel Hollingshead, Jonathan Hollingshead, Nathan Bell and Renee Lambert; and seven great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, Nov. 1, from 6-8 p.m. at Ruggles Wilcox Funeral Home in Arkadelphia. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Nov. 2, at 10 a.m. at the funeral home with Brother John McAnally officiating.

Pall bearers will be Alex Hollingshead, Stan Smith, Barry Smith, Kenny Rinkle, Dale Sutton and Paul Cauchi.

Burial will follow at Jones Cemetery in Amity.
