
Rae Evelyn Thomas Adams was born on July 1, 1948, in Okolona to Henry Thomas and Tressie Johnson.
She confessed hope in Christ at an early age and united with Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Okolona. She was a graduate of Simmons Highs School and shortly thereafter moved to Los Angeles. In 1968 she moved back to Okolona and in 1974 she married Raymond Adams and they made their home in Perla.
Rae Evelyn united with Mt. Zion Baptist Church and in 1977, she worked for Area Agency on Aging. She retired after 40 years of service.
She passed from this life on Wednesday, August 3, 2022, at her home in Perla. She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry Thomas, and Tressie Leeper; a sister, Annie J. Leeper, and a brohter, John “Duck” Leeper.
Her memory will live in the hearts of her husband, Raymond Adams Sr. of Perla; six children, James Buyard of Malvern, Raymond Adams Jr. of Malvern, Randy Watkins of Hot Springs, Ramona Adams of Texas, Tamala Steven Traylor of Malvern, and Youlanda Adams of Malvern; 11 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; sisters, Mary Leeper, Jonnie E. Leeper, and Lois J. Leeper; brothers, Danny (Anita) Leeper, Howard Leeper, Dennis Leeper and Ardis (Marion) Leeper; two aunts, Mae Sue Williams and Arzola Cook. She also leaves nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Visitation will be Friday, August 12, from 5-7 p.m. at Mt. Zion Baptist Church, 522 S Banks Street, in Malvern. Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, August 13, at Mt. Zion Baptist Church with Pastor Orlando Freeman, the eulogist. Interment will be at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery in Okolona under the direction of Williams Funeral Home.
