Two people were killed and another hurt Sunday afternoon in a collision on Highway 7 near Bismarck.

According to a preliminary fatal crash summary filed by Arkansas State Police, Rebecca Welday and an unnamed juvenile died July 31 in a two-car accident that happened at about 2:40 p.m. on state Highway 7 near the intersection of Edgewood Drive.

The report indicates Welday, of Pearcy, was traveling north in a 2015 Chevrolet Spark, crossed the center line and struck a southbound Ford Escape driven by Cathy Hathcoat, 69, of Arkadelphia.

Hathcoat was transported to CHI St. Vincent Hospital in Hot Springs for treatment to unlisted injuries. The deceased were being held at the Hot Spring County Coroner’s Office.

Weather and road conditions were listed as cloudy and wet, respectively, according to investigating officer Trooper Jackson Daniell.
