Billy Alexander Benson, Sr., age 86, of Arkadelphia, passed from this life on Saturday, July 23, 2022, at Courtyard Gardens Health and Rehabilitation Center in Arkadelphia. He was born December 21, 1935, in Okolona, the son of the late Alexander and Flora Mae Hurst Benson. Billy was retired superintendent with Chapman Construction Company. He was a United States Army veteran of Vietnam. Billy was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church. He enjoyed traveling in his free time. Billy was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Billy Benson, Jr., one infant brother, two sisters, Patsy Harrell and Alex Zenia Hartsock, and one granddaughter, Sara Blassingame.
Survivors are his wife of sixty-six years, Madeline Kapus Benson of Arkadelphia, two sons, Michael Benson (Brenda) of Arkadelphia and Jonathan Benson (Chandler) of Little Elm, Texas, two daughters, Peggy Pulles (Jack) of Hanover, Pennsylvania, and Angela Gober (Hoye) of Beirne, two sisters, Ruby Mills and Margaret Hooper, thirteen grandchildren, forty-three great grandchildren and twelve great-great grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 28, 2022, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with Father Mark Wood officiating.
The rosary will be at 6 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Welch Funeral Home.
Interment will be in Center Ridge Cemetery.
