Four positions on the Arkadelphia City Board of Directors will be up for contest this election season.
The seats up for grabs are wards 1 and 4, currently held by Taylor Chaney and Reo Cummings, respectively, as well as the mayor’s position and assistant mayor’s position, currently held by Scott Byrd and Roland Gosey, respectively. The latter are at-large positions, meaning contestants are not required to reside within any particular city ward.

The process for running includes gathering 50 signatures of registered voters on a petition available for pick-up at Town Hall. Petitions will be available beginning Friday, July 29, with a deadline of Friday, Aug. 19, at noon. The city clerk will verify all signatures for the ballot with the Clark County Clerk’s Office.
Signatures must be from registered voters living within the candidate’s respective ward. Candidates seeking an at-large position may collect signatures from residents throughout the city. For more information about running for a position on the board of directors, call Arkadelphia City Clerk Samantha Roybal at 870-246-9864 or visit this link from the Secretary of State’s office.
The four-year terms are not compensated positions. The city board meets the first and third Tuesday of each month at 5:30 p.m.
