At 2:23 p.m. Tuesday, June 21, the Arkadelphia Fire Department was summoned to a car fire in the old Sav U Mor parking lot northwest of Town Hall.

The SUV was fully engulfed by the time dispatchers summoned firefighters to the scene. At the time of this writing it was not clear what caused the vehicle to catch on fire, but a witness at the scene said the vehicle’s owner notified authorities after noticing the car was smoking.

In an unrelated story, the Sav U Mor is now property of the City of Arkadelphia, which has plans to convert the old grocery store into a headquarters for the Arkadelphia Police Department. CLICK HERE to read that story.
