School board talks to fourth superintendent hopeful

By The Arkadelphian

The Arkadelphia Board of Education has interviewed four potential candidates for the next superintendent of Arkadelphia Public Schools.

In a special-called meeting Friday evening the school board spent an hour and 15 minutes interviewing Ken Vaughn, who currently holds the superintendent position at Pineywoods Community Academy in Lufkin, Texas. The bare quorum of school board members spent an additional 10 minutes in executive session following Vaughn’s departure from the conference room.

School board members absent during Friday’s interview were Kenneth Harris, Blake Bell and Ida Tramble.

Vaughn, one of 20 in a pool of applicants, makes the fourth candidate the board has interviewed. Others are Nikki Thomas, Marvin Burton and Lloyd Jackson, who was interviewed on May 12.

School board president Casey Motl said there are currently no other interviews scheduled but noted that could change.
