ARKADELPHIA — Henderson State Athletics secured its 11th consecutive academic semester with a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 or higher this week when the Reddies’ 450-plus student-athletes recorded a 3.19 GPA for the 2022 spring term.

In total, 12 of Henderson’s 14 intercollegiate athletic programs held GPAs of 3.0 or better, including every women’s team.

“I am proud to once again announce that our student-athletes have reached this important benchmark of academic success in the spring semester,” Director of Athletics Shawn Jones said. “Our emphasis on the total student-athlete experience continues to be evident as we have now reached a departmental GPA of 3.0 or better every semester since the spring of 2017. I want to thank our Academic Advising Coordinator, Chanda Hooten, as well as our student-athletes and coaches for committing themselves to excellence in the classroom.”

Reddie Football contributed the highest GPA of all the men’s programs with a mark of 3.16 — its second-best team GPA ever — while women’s basketball led the department as a whole with a high mark of 3.74. Sixty-four (64) student-athletes received their degrees this spring, including six who earned master’s degrees.–
