The Arkadelphian
Although still an admitted work in progress, the Arkadelphia Board of Education on Tuesday gave approval to a stipend schedule for faculty and staff who take on other duties like coaching athletics or extracurricular academics.
Over the course of three meetings with committees, changes were made to “improve” the stipend schedule, including the addition of stipends for coaching girls athletics, Superintendent Karla Neathery told school board members.
Board president Casey Motl inquired whether the schedule would be up for annual review; Neathery, who is leaving the district at the end of her contract in July, assured him it could be. Board member Gina White noted that some titles on the list weren’t applicable to the district’s current team — such as assistant principal for primary school — but were included in the event such a title were needed in the future.
In other district business, there was no action needed for policy updates. Neathery said there is another committee meeting and will return it for school board approval in April. The 2022-2023 school calendar would also return to committee before final approval from the board at its April 5 meeting.
