TEMPE, Arizona – Following a pair of convincing wins over ranked opponents to start the spring season, the Ouachita Baptist University men’s tennis team has earned a No. 17 national ranking from the Intercollegiate Tennis Association.

The Tigers were idle this past weekend, but previously defeated then-ranked No. 11 Delta State 7-0 and No. 19 Southwest Baptist 6-1 two weekends ago at home.

Ouachita is one of four teams in the central region to be ranked in this week’s national poll, including Southern Arkansas at No. 13, Northwest Missouri State at No. 14, and Washburn at No. 22.

“Rankings aren’t everything, but this gives us another reason to stay motivated,” said Ouachita Head Coach Craig Ward. “It’s a great way to start the season.”

The Tigers begin a stretch off 11 straight road matches this weekend in Kansas, opening conference play against Newman on Friday, No. 22 Washburn on Saturday, and Emporia State on Sunday.
