ARKADELPHIA — Henderson State welcomed 33 new players into the program on Wednesday as a part of its 2022 class on national signing day.

The Reddies brought in a strong contingent of homegrown talent and signed 13 players from inside the state of Arkansas, including three from Arkadelphia High School. The class also features 13 players from the football-rich state of Texas, five from Louisiana and two from Oklahoma.

The talent was spread fairly evenly along both sides of the ball, as 17 signees will play defense during their time in Arkadelphia and 16 will be on offense. The defensive secondary had the most additions with nine total signees, while the defensive line added eight, the receiving corps brought in six and the offensive line had five. The Reddies also added three running backs, a tight end and a quarterback on Wednesday.

“I’m very pleased with the quality of the class we’ve put together this cycle,” head coach Scott Maxfield said. “Our coaches did a great job of identifying talented, hard-nosed young men who will fit into the winning culture we’ve established here. The number one trait we always look for in recruiting is a love of football. If you love the game, you’re willing to work to be great. That’s what we believe we’ve found with these 33 signees.
