ADH: Active cases fall, 2 local deaths in past week

EDITOR’S NOTE: The Arkadelphian began compiling the following data on Monday, Jan. 3, 2022. 

Of the 74,988 active Covid-19 cases in The Natural State, there were 421 active cases in Clark County on Sunday, Jan. 30, according to information from the Arkansas Department of Health.

The local figure is down from the 617 active cases reported last week. The state’s totals have dropped significantly; there were more than 102,000 active cases last week.

Since figures have been tallied, there have been a total of 4,846 cases reported in Clark County, with 68 Covid-related deaths. Two additional deaths have been reported in the past week, according to ADH. There have been a total of 9,498 deaths in Arkansas; that number has increased by 118 deaths since last week.

In neighboring counties, Hot Spring reported 982 active cases (down from 1,124 last week), Dallas reported 173 (down from 237 last week), Pike reported 173 (down from 236 last week) and Nevada 186 (down from 274 last week). Garland County is reporting 1,454 (down from 1,723 last week), and Ouachita County is reporting 447 cases (down from last week’s 561).
