A two-vehicle accident Wednesday involving an 18-wheeler left one person dead in Hot Spring County.

According to an Arkansas State Police fatal crash summary report, 26-year-old Jalyn Mayweathers, of Jefferson County, was killed at 7:14 a.m. Jan. 5 on Highway 270 East in rural Hot Spring County.

Mayweathers was a passenger in a 2009 Dodge driven by Rashad Nalls, of Lincoln County. The report indicates that Nalls and Mayweather were headed eastbound and passing a vehicle when a westbound Kenworth was approaching.

Nalls and the driver of the semi reportedly swerved to avoid a collision, and swerved in the same direction. The two vehicles struck head-on and crossed into the north roadside ditch where they came to a rest.

Nalls was taken to CHI St. Vincent hospital in Hot Springs for unknown injuries. Mayweather’s body was transported to the Hot Spring County Coroner’s Office.

Weather and road conditions were listed as clear and dry, respectively, according to State Trooper Brian Heinley who worked the accident.
