WACO, Texas — The Ouachita Baptist University football team has earned a No. 17 ranking in the American Football Coaches Association Top 25 Poll as the 2021 regular season comes to a close.
Ouachita was featured in the AFCA Top 25 poll in each week of the 2021 season, starting the year at No. 11, climbing to as high as No. 6, and never dropping out of the top 20.
The Tigers concluded the 2021 season this past Saturday with their fifth straight win over Henderson State in the 94th annual Battle of the Ravine. Ouachita won 31-28 over the Reddies, highlighted by a 53-yard field goal with 57 seconds remaining in regulation. It gives the Tigers a 45-43-6 all-time series advantage.
The 9-2 final record signifies the seventh season in Ouachita history with at least nine victories, five of the seven coming since 2014. The Tigers have posted 13 consecutive winning seasons, and the future looks bright with 36 of the 46 names listed on the two-deep depth chart set to return in 2022.
