Rutledge yields to Sanders for governor’s race; sets eyes on Lt. Gov. spot

Arkansas Attorney General Leslie Rutledge on Tuesday announced she is dropping out of the governor’s race and instead setting her eyes at the lieutenant governor’s position, Arkansas Business Publishers Group reported Tuesday evening.

Rutledge did have her eyes on the Republican Party’s nomination of her for the state’s chief executive officer. Now, Rutledge will be campaigning alongside former opponent Sarah Huckabee Sanders.

The two squared off during the early campaign season, making their debut debate at Henderson State University, in front of a packed house of Republicans for the Lincoln Day Dinner.
