Tigers up to No. 12 in football rankings

ARKADELPHIA — Following a dominant performance on Homecoming, the Ouachita Baptist University football team moved up to No. 12 this week in both of the major NCAA Division II football polls.

The Tigers (4-1) made the biggest jump in the American Football Coaches Association Top 25 Poll, leaping seven spots to No. 12 this week. In the D2Football.com Top 25, Ouachita moved up five spots.

Ouachita climbed back into the top 15 following a 64-17 victory over Northwestern Oklahoma State this past Saturday at Cliff Harris Stadium. Ouachita is now tied for second in the Great American Conference.

Other GAC schools getting national recognition this week are Henderson State at No. 9 in the AFCA poll and No. 21 in the D2Football.com poll, and Harding at No. 21 (AFCA) and No. 9 (D2). HSU is the only unbeaten team so far this season at 5-0 following a win over previously unbeaten Southeastern Oklahoma State this past Saturday.

The 12th-ranked Tigers are back in action this Saturday, October 9 on the road against Southwestern Oklahoma State.
