With a lone item on the Sept. 21 meeting, the Arkadelphia City Board of Directors was unable to meet Tuesday for lack of a quorum.
Directors Chris Porter (Ward 2), Jason Jones (Ward 5) and Reo Cummings (Ward 4) were present for the 5:30 p.m. meeting. At least four directors of the seven-member city board must be present in order to hold a meeting.
Directors were expected to cast their vote on the second reading of an ordinance pert to an annual 5-mill tax. It isn’t a new tax.
Absent directors were Taylor Chaney (Ward 1), Keith Crews (Ward 3), Assistant Mayor Roland Gosey and Mayor Scott Byrd. The mayor is riding in the Motorcycle Cannonball, which will make its Arkadelphia appearance on Wednesday afternoon.
The next City Board meeting is slated for Tuesday, Oct. 5, at 5:30 p.m. Directors are scheduled to hold the annual Board Retreat on Saturday, Oct. 2.
