WGCA POLL | BUSHNELL GOLFWEEK POLL

ARKADELPHIA — Henderson State’s golf programs each saw big jumps in their respective Top-25 polls this week, as the men rose to No. 13 in the country and the women climbed up to No. 11 nationally.

The men’s team had a strong showing this past week at the season-opening Washburn Invitational and finished as the runner-up at the 19-team event. Henderson jumped up five spots from its previous No. 18 ranking in the Bushnell/Golfweek Division II Coaches Poll.

The Reddie women are unbeaten to start the 2021-22 season and have won their first two tournaments of the year — the Central Region Fall Preview and the Northeastern State Women’s Golf Classic. Junior Gracen Blount won both events as an individual and earned back-to-back GAC Golfer of the Week awards. The wins launched Henderson up the national rankings, as the Reddies went from receiving 11 total votes in the preseason WGCA Poll to No. 11 overall in NCAA Division II.

Henderson State and Arkansas Tech are the only two schools in the Great American Conference with both their men’s and women’s teams inside the Top-25 nationally.

The Reddie men return to action this week, as they play at the Missouri Southern Invite on Sept. 27-28. The women will go for three-straight wins at Central Oklahoma’s Grace Shin Memorial Invite on Oct. 4-5.
