Ouachita’s Castillow named GAC Player of the Week

ARKADELPHIA — Senior Lexie Castillow has been named the Great American Conference volleyball defensive player of the week for her efforts in Ouachita’s last five matches.

Castillow and the Tigers went 3-1 on Friday and Saturday at the Denton Volleyfest, hosted by Texas Woman’s University. Also included in this week’s statistics is a five-set loss at home to Texas A&M-Kingsville last Tuesday.

The Greenwood native paced the Tigers defense with an average of 5.64 digs per set over five matches. She had a total of 124 digs throughout the week. She went above 20 digs in four of the five matches this week, including matching her career high of 39 digs in a five-set loss to Texas-Permian Basin. She also added a total of five service aces, 26 assists, and four kills throughout the week.

This is Castillow’s third GAC player of the week honor in her career.

The GAC named Southwestern Oklahoma State’s Markenzie Benoit as offensive player of the week and Oklahoma Baptist’s Kaylee Buell as setter of the week.
