The event, held in honor of Arkadelphia native and Arkansas Track & Field Hall of Famer James Winfield “Skinny” Whipple, was the first high school track & field meet held on campus in over 30 years

Hickingbotham came to Ouachita as a freshman in 1955 from his hometown of McGehee
The original men’s track and field program ceased operations following the 1993 season during the school’s transition from the NAIA to the NCAA
The 1988 Ouachita graduate began his new role at the university this summer following his retirement as the head cross country and track & field coach at Tarleton State University.
Dr. Charles “Chuck” Barber will represent Ouachita Baptist University, as well as Bald Knob and the United States military, when he is inducted into the Arkansas Track and Field Hall of Fame next Friday, June 3 in North Little Rock.
