The Arkadelphia Public School District announced that Arkadelphia High School Senior Henry Harrell has been named a Semifinalist in the 2027 National Merit Scholarship Program.
Harrell is one of 16,000 Semifinalists named in the 72nd annual National Merit Scholarship Program. He has the opportunity to continue in the National Merit Scholarship Competition for some 6,700 scholarships worth nearly $24 million and advance to the Finalist level of the competition.
More than 1.2 million high school juniors across about 20,000 schools participated in the initial screening for the 72nd annual National Merit Scholarship Program by taking the 2025 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test. This group of Semifinalists includes the top-performing students from every state, representing under 1% of graduating seniors nationwide, with state allocations proportional to each state’s share of overall graduates.
Harrell is the son of Tim and Nancy Harrell. He is a member of the 4A State Champion Badger Pride Marching Band, AHS Quiz Bowl Team, Badger Tennis Team, and FCA Leadership Team. He is currently a three-year Badger Scholar.
