The trend of hot and dry conditions will be expected across Arkansas over the next seven days, according to the National Weather Service in Little Rock.
Through Sunday, Sept. 6, heat index values will reach dangerous levels across portions of Arkansas, with the NWS Heat Risk returning to the Extreme category for much of the state by midweek.
Expect daily highs to be in the upper 90s, with heat index values surpassing the three-digit mark each day, possibly through the upcoming Labor Day weekend. Nighttime lows will be in the low 70s.
Chances for precipitation are nearly zero over the next week. Expect sunny and clear skies all week.
Burn bans remain in effect for most of Arkansas, as all but about a dozen counties are prohibiting outdoor burning until conditions improve. Clark and all neighboring counties remain under a burn ban as of Monday, Aug. 31.
