Gary Golden Gross of Fayetteville passed away June 10, 2026. Gary was born March 23, 1940, in Arkadelphia, the youngest son of Alva D. and Cornelia Golden Gross.
A 1958 graduate of Arkadelphia High School, Gary attended the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville. There, he was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity, and he was a three-year letterman for the Razorback golf team. Golf was a lifelong love for Gary, and he played as long as his health allowed. From Arkadelphia Country Club, then Bluewater Bay Golf Club, to Fayetteville Country Club and finally Paradise Valley Athletic Club, Gary made many friends and won several championships on the golf course.
After a career farming and operating Gross Feed Mill in Arkadelphia, Gary and his wife Peggy spent an enjoyable 10 years in Niceville, FL, where Gary was in the golf business. They then moved to Fayetteville, where Gary was a member of Central United Methodist Church, serving as an usher for several years. He was also volunteereed with Hospice; Stephen Ministries; and Horses for Healing. Gary was an initiator of the Arkansas Rice Depot in Little Rock, now known as the Arkansas Food Bank. He was also a Master Gardener, keeping his and Peggy’s yard beautifully landscaped.
Gary was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Roy A. Gross.
He is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Peggy McLean Gross. He is also survived by his children, Gary Gross, Jr. of Prescott; Melanie Morgan and husband Steve of Magnet Cove; DeAnn Hipps and husband Mike of Arkadelphia; and Glenn Gross and wife Brooke of Little Rock. In addition, Gary is survived by his stepdaughters, Catherine Chipman and Alison Walker of Boulder, CO; and 10 grandchildren and 13 great-granchildren.

After a private graveside service, Gary will be buried at Rose Hill Cemetery in
Arkadelphia.
