From the Arkansas Scholarship Lottery
The deadline for students to apply for the Arkansas Academic Challenge Scholarship, funded by the Arkansas Scholarship Lottery (ASL), is July 1.
“The lottery was founded more than 15 years ago with the mission of raising funds for in-state student scholarships, and we’re excited to see our hard work come to fruition for another year,” said ASL Executive Director Sharon Strong. “We encourage Arkansans, whether they’re a high school senior or a returning student, to take the next step and apply.”
The Arkansas Academic Challenge Scholarship is available to Arkansas residents attending two-year or four-year in-state colleges and universities. Both traditional and non-traditional students are eligible.
Since 2009, the Arkansas Scholarship Lottery has funded more than 873,000 scholarships for Arkansas students with over $1.6 billion in proceeds from lottery ticket sales. In addition to the Arkansas Academic Challenge Scholarship, ASL also funds the Arkansas Workforce Challenge Scholarship and the ACCESS to Acceleration scholarship program.
Students must apply for the Arkansas Workforce Challenge Scholarship at least 30 days prior to enrollment in an eligible workforce training program. The ACCESS to Acceleration scholarship will be fully implemented by Fall 2029 and will replace the Concurrent Challenge Scholarship Program.
Although ASL plays a crucial role in fundraising for scholarship initiatives, the Arkansas Department of Higher Education (ADHE) is responsible for awarding these scholarships.
