Henderson State University presented Faculty Excellence Awards and recognized faculty members for their years of service to the university during a reception on April 28.
• Amanda Jones, assistant professor and STEM Center director, received the Faculty Excellence Award for Teachers College.
• Leah Hasley, instructor of management, was presented the Faculty Excellence Award for College of Business.
• Dr. Jamie Lipton, professor of low brass, was honored with the Faculty Excellence Award for College of Performing Arts & Social Sciences.
• Dr. Brett Serviss, professor and chair of Natural Sciences, received the Faculty Excellence Award for Caver College of Aviation, Science & Nursing.
• Dr. Karson Henry, assistant professor of nursing, was named Outstanding New Faculty Member.

25 years
• Marck Beggs, instructor of English
• Steven Carter, professor of history and Honors College director
• Aneeq Khan, professor of psychology
• Celya Taylor, provost and vice chancellor of Academic Affairs
• Kenneth Taylor, director of Teacher Education Experiences
15 years
• Lisa Bell, assistant professor of business
• TaLisha Givan, associate professor of curriculum and instruction
• Charlotte White-Wright, dean of Teachers College
10 years
• Stephen Adkison, instructor of English and Writing Center director
• Kenneth Angell, library operations
• Shari Valentine, associate professor of sociology and criminal justice
5 years
• Kristi Campbell, assistant professor of Educational Leadership
• Lacy Dunn, dean, College of Performing Arts & Social Sciences
• Leah Wood, assistant professor of nursing

Dr. Paul Williamson, professor of psychology, was also recognized for his retirement after 23 years of service to Henderson.
“Our faculty are the heart of Henderson State University, and their dedication to teaching, research, and service is what makes this institution thrive,” said Dr. Trey Berry, Henderson State chancellor. “We are grateful for the many years of commitment shown by these outstanding educators and leaders. Their passion for student success and their loyalty to Henderson inspire us all, and we are proud to honor them for their contributions to our community.”
