Dispatch Desk: Loose dog shot while chasing neighbor

The following incidents were gathered from reports filed Feb. 9-16, 2026, at the Arkadelphia Police Department and Clark County Sheriff’s Office. Arrested or cited individuals are presumed innocent until found guilty in a court of law. The Arkadelphian does not withhold names, so don’t even think about asking.

Monday, Feb. 9

Felony incident still under investigation: Financial identity fraud, 2300 block of Elaine Street

8 p.m.
An officer took a report of a disturbance involving an estranged couple. The male had left the residence prior to police arrival.

Tuesday, Feb. 10

9:23 a.m.
Police were called to a Walnut Street residence for a domestic disturbance, called in by a water department employee who witnessed a physical altercation. After taking statements from both involved parties, Malachi Slaughter, 19, was arrested on charges of third-degree domestic battery.

A woman reported being the victim of identity fraud, having been alerted by her bank of a fraudulent charge and also denied a credit card from two institutions because they couldn’t verify her identity. An officer generated her report and encouraged her to contact the Arkansas Attorney General’s Office.

7:07 p.m.
An officer responded to Winner’s Circle, 104 N. 10th St., for a store complaint of a known trespasser who had just left the store. The officer searched the area to find the suspect, Cameron Clay Shell, 33. The store manager was able to provide surveillance footage evidence of Shell being in the business, and the officer noted in his report that he had been present when another officer instructed Shell to never return to the store. The report doesn’t indicate why Shell was previously banned from the store. Shell was arrested for criminal trespass.

Wednesday, Feb. 11

12:55 a.m.
A resident of Chateau Apartments, 1038 Pine St., reported being threatened by a known female. He was advised of procedures to obtain a No Contact Order and how to pursue criminal charges.

Thursday, Feb. 12

1:31 p.m.
Officers were called to a report of a tractor-trailer that had struck and ripped away a power line at Pine and 18th streets. A witness provided photographs identifying the trucking company and its license plate. A short time later, a sheriff’s office investigator conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle on Interstate 30. Gregory Benard Lamar, 46, of Daytona Beach, Florida, was cited for leaving the scene of an accident. Acknowledging that he caused the damages, Lamar told an Arkansas State Police trooper that a fiber optics worker said it was OK for him to leave the scene.

Friday, Feb. 13

Juvenile report: Runaway

10:25 p.m.
Officers were called to a South 25th Street residence for a disturbance between two females. The aggressor had left prior to police arrival, and the complainant was instructed to call if she returned. Police were called back to the residence after midnight, but the aggressor again was gone before officers showed up. An hour later the aggressor called police to her residence. She was advised to steer clear of the other party or face arrest for trespassing.

Saturday, Feb. 14

3:40 p.m.
A North 22nd Street woman reported the theft of a clothes dryer, a generator and a ladder from her residence.

Monday, Feb. 16

10 p.m.
A resident of Cox Trailer Park, 1319 N. 10th St., reported that his girlfriend, in an attempt to keep him from leaving, slashed two tires on a car he had rented. He walked from the scene to meet an officer, who provided a courtesy transport to a motel. The vehicle was towed from the scene.

Friday, Feb. 6

6:37 p.m.
A deputy patrolling Pine Street observed a Cadillac with unconfirmed insurance. A traffic stop was made at the 8th Street intersection. The passenger, Latasia Williams, 37, was arrested for a warrant for failure to appear. During the booking process, a jailer found that Williams had concealed a small amount of marijuana on her person. She was additionally charged with furnishing prohibited articles into a correctional facility.

7:22 p.m.
Deputies were called to a Mill Creek Road residence for a domestic disturbance between a male and female. Upon viewing physical evidence and taking statements from involved parties, Corey Hunter, 36, was arrested for third-degree domestic battery.

11:53 p.m.
A deputy patrolling Interstate 30 conducted a traffic stop on an unlicensed vehicle near the Gum Springs exit. The driver was identified as Christopher Blankenship, 50, of the northeastern Arkansas town of Smithville. Blankenship conveyed that he was traveling home from Dallas, where he had bought the vehicle. The deputy noted discrepancies in his story and asked for consent to search the vehicle, but was declined. A K-9 unit from Prescott was called to the scene and gave a positive alert outside the vehicle, prompting a search that yielded a plastic bag containing suspected methamphetamine, paraphernalia, and more than $2,400 in cash. Blankenship was transported to jail and placed on continued detention, and a drug task force agent was notified of the discovery.

Tuesday, Feb. 10

A deputy investigated the theft of a 2007 Suzuki Vincent ATV from a Skipper Creek Road residence at Amity. Additional information was not available.

Saturday, Feb. 14

8:50 a.m.
Deputies were called to a Mount Zion Road residence, where the caller reported shooting his neighbor’s dog as it was chasing his wife. The wife advised that she was riding her horse when she heard their donkeys in distress. Further investigation revealed two dogs identified as pit bulls were in the donkey pen, chasing and trying to bite them. She tied up her horse and grabbed a lunge whip to ward off the canines, which then turned their attention to her, aggressively lunging at her. Being made aware of the situation, her husband retrieved a rifle and shot one of the dogs. A deputy spoke to the dogs’ owner, who said she had let them out to relieve themselves prior to the incident. Per the dog owners’ request, the deceased animal was loaded onto a tractor and relocated to their property.

Sunday, Feb. 15

2:49 a.m.
Dispatched to the 80 mile-marker of I-30 for a report of a disabled vehicle, a deputy arrived to find the driver asleep with the vehicle running. The driver, identified as Jesus Ismael Millan-Medina, 28, no address listed, exhibited signs of intoxication. Using a translator due to the language barrier, Medina submitted to a series of sobriety tests, which he failed. A backup deputy located paraphernalia in the vehicle. Medina was arrested on suspicion of DWI, possession of drug paraphernalia, and obstruction of governmental operations.

7:59 p.m.
A deputy patrolling Pine Street observed a vehicle with expired tags. A traffic stop was made on North 26th Street. The deputy got a whiff of marijuana as he approached the vehicle. The driver was identified as Damian Michael Hawthorne, 23, of Prescott. Discovering that the vehicle registration had expired in 2024, the deputy commenced a search of the vehicle to find paraphernalia and baggies of marijuana in the back floorboard. Hawthorne was arrested for driving with expired tags, possession of a controlled substance, possessing an instrument of crime, and no liability insurance.
