David Leon Sanders, age 68, of Gurdon, passed from this life on Tuesday, February 10, 2026, at Nightengale Nursing Home in Arkadelphia. He was born on June 23, 1957, in Prescott, the son of the late Alfred Leon and Bessie Lula Brown Sanders.
David was a United State Marine Corps Veteran. He retired from the Beirne Sawmill. David enjoyed spending time with family and hunting and fishing.
He is preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Jean Jenkins, one brother, Dennis Butler, and one niece, Chrystal Sanders.
David is survived by his wife, Mary Smith Sanders, one son, Brandon Sanders (Rachel) of Gurdon, one daughter, Laura Goodman, one step-daughter, Bridget Horne of Ok, four brothers, Charles Sanders (Joyce), Eddie Sanders, Jimmy Sanders (Katie) and James Sanders, four grandchildren, Leighanne Gore, Lily Gore, Kirstin Goodman, Logan Goodman, and two great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday February 17, 2026, at Welch Funeral Home in Arkadelphia with Bro. Billy Griffin officiating.
Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 PM on Monday night at the Funeral Home.
Interment will be at Bethlehem Cemetery in Gurdon with Military Honors.
Pallbearers are Brandon Sanders, Charles Sanders, Eddie Sanders, Jimmy Sanders, Joseph Sanders and Phillip Mitchell.
Honorary Pallbearers are James Sanders, Shane Diehl, and Daniel Smith.
