Joan Boswell Hobgood Clinton, 86, of Hot Springs passed away at her home on December 23, 2025. She was born April 25, 1939, in Little Rock, AR daughter of the late James and Ernestine MacMillan Hobgood.
She grew up in Arkadelphia and graduated from Arkadelphia High School and attended Hendrix College. She married Dan Clinton in 1959. She was a homemaker, a member of the Junior Auxiliary and involved in many arts and crafts projects in town. Later she became co-owner/operator of Nellee’s Needlepoint shop in Hot Springs. She was a long-time member of First Presbyterian Church in Hot Springs where she was involved in many activities. She enjoyed hiking, dancing, playing tennis and swimming in Lake Hamilton. She also loved the weekly visit with her friends in the bridge club.
Survivors include: Her husband, Daniel B. Clinton Sr. of Hot Springs; her children, Daniel B. Clinton, Jr. (Robin) of Redding, CA, Carrie Blocker (Richard) of Chicago, and Jay A. Clinton of Hot Springs; her grandchildren, Jessica Blocker and Alex Blocker of Chicago, IL, and Katie Clinton of Glenwood; her brother, John Hobgood of Arkadelphia; her sister, Jamie Ward (David) of Okolona; brother-in-law, Roy Clinton of Fayetteville; sister-in-law, Sissy Clinton of Little Rock; and many nieces and nephews.
Instead of a formal service, the family invites all Joan’s friends to drop in at the fellowship hall at First Presbyterian Church in Hot Springs Saturday, January 10, from 2-4 p.m.
