Two people were killed on US Highway 270 in rural Garland County in a head-on collision Wednesday evening, Dec. 17, 2025.
According to a preliminary fatal crash summary posted by Arkansas State Police, the crash involved a 2006 Lexus LS and a 2007 GMC Sierra.
Patrick Jay Spinks, 75, of Royal, was driving the westbound Lexus when he lost control of the vehicle and crossed the center line, colliding with the GMC pickup, driven by John Calhoune McLean, 53, of Hot Springs.
Both Spinks and McLean were killed in the crash. Their bodies were taken to the Garland County Coroner’s Office.
Investigating State Trooper Cpl. Ryan Wingo noted wet roads and cloudy skies at the time of the accident, which was recorded as 5:05 p.m.
