Ron Addington announces bid for Clark County Judge

This is a paid political announcement for Ron Addington for Clark County Judge.

I wanted to send this message as a way to visit with everyone in Clark County about why I feel I am qualified to serve as your County Judge. Please let me tell you who I am and give you some  background about myself:

I graduated from Henderson and went straight into the Army during the Vietnam War. While attending College at Henderson, I spent a lot of my time (when not in class) working on construction projects as a laborer through Labor Local 490 out of Hot Springs. I worked on dam  construction projects, including DeGray Lake and Gillham Lake. I worked for Eby Construction Company, who built the Gate Tower on Lake DeGray. I worked on every concrete pour from the ground level to the top of that tower.

I owe my first college degree to those construction jobs, and I owe my two graduate degrees to the GI Bill and being an Army vet. After obtaining my doctorate, I was so happy to be offered a job back at Henderson so I could return to Arkadelphia.

I’ve lived in Clark County most of my adult life. My wife, Cecilia, and I raised two children, and have five grandchildren. We both retired from Henderson in 2016. She and I began a Property  Management business 40 years ago, which we still own. We are also co-owners of a Timber Company managed by Kingwood Forestry. For the past 14 years, I have been Chairman of the Board for Two Rivers Federal Credit Union in Arkadelphia. All of my adult life, I’ve owned lots of  equipment, including a backhoe, bulldozer, tractors, and more.

Here are several key points about my life, career, and who I am to let you know why I should  be your next County Judge:

MILITARY: U.S. Army Vietnam-era Veteran, 4 years active, 20 years Army Reserve (Infantry Officer). Several active duty deployments throughout the 20 years of Army Reserve duty. Commander (CO) of 3 different units; Staff Officer to 4 different Generals; Numerous awards & citations; Retired –  Lieutenant Colonel.

GOVERNMENT SERVICE: Two terms, Arkadelphia City Board of Directors; Two terms, Arkadelphia School Board; Two years, Arkansas State Capitol as an Elected Delegate to the Arkansas Constitutional Convention, elected to the Executive Board; Staff Member for the Arkansas State  Senate; Liaison to the Governor’s Staff; Lobbied at the State Capitol for more college funding during  several Legislative Sessions.

OCCUPATION: Retired: Henderson, Administrator and Faculty; Former Community College President; Indiana University – Instructor; University of Arkansas – Graduate Assistant – Instructor.

COMMUNITY: Arkadelphia Rotary Club, Paul Harris Fellow, Senior Inactive; Founding Member, Clark County Industrial Council; Methodist; Eagle Scout; Adult Boy Scout Leader – Troop 24; Former Boy Scout Executive Board Member; Former Youth Soccer Coach – Arkadelphia Parks & Recreation; Member, National Rifle Association (NRA), Hobbies – Gardening, Deer Camping & Travel – Japan,  China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Germany, Italy, France, Switzerland, Great Britain, Belgium.

EDUCATION: Bachelor’s – Henderson St; Master’s – Indiana University; Doctorate – U of A; Graduate  of the U.S. Army Command & General Staff College; Also attended Graduate School at Purdue Univ.,  UALR, Ball State Univ., & Univ. of Maryland.

I feel that my strongest qualities to serve as the County Judge are a long history of running a business, a lot of general knowledge about construction and equipment; and many years of elected and employed service in government, and my vast experience in LEADING employees. The County Judge is responsible for administering a 28-million-dollar budget and operating a 650-mile county road system, and my experience makes me more than capable of succeeding in both of these tasks and making Clark County a great place to call home.

If you belong to an organization and would like to invite me to visit and/or speak, I would be happy to come. Feel free to call or text me at my cell: 870-245-6455. My email is addingra@outlook.com.
