Poll: How will you vote in Arkadelphia’s proposed school millage election?

The Arkadelphia Board of Education is seeking voter approval of a 3.0 millage increase that would, if passed in an upcoming special election, fund the construction of a new Arkadelphia High School.

It will cost about $62 million to build the new school, which was completed in 1972. The district will commit $6 million from its building fund, and the state will give the district $19 million under the condition that voters support the project; the millage would fund up to $37.1 million toward the new AHS campus.

The project would add a safe room, fine arts auditorium, career education center and an arena gymnasium. The new facility would additionally meet the state’s warm/safe/dry requirements; the current AHS facility reportedly does not meet those requirements.
