Bismarck twister had 105 mph winds

BISMARCK, Arkansas — An EF-1 tornado that touched down in southern Hot Spring County on Saturday afternoon, Oct. 18, was 100 yards wide and carried winds of up to 105 mph.

The National Weather Service in Little Rock confirmed the twister, which touched down at approximately 3:50 p.m. and traveled a distance of eight-tenths of a mile. It traveled west to east from Sycamore Drive to Owasso Trail off of Arkansas Highway 128 and about 2 miles northeast of DeGray Lake.

The tornado traveled mostly through a wooded area, but did cause some property damage to residences. The Bismarck Fire Protection Association reported roof damage to a “few” homes in the area.

There were no injuries or deaths associated with Saturday’s tornado.
