She was advised to contact the Arkansas Attorney General’s Office regarding the incident.

4:22 p.m.
Police were called to a disturbance at the 1700 block of O’Connell Street, where two females had separated following a heated argument over $5 for gas money during a trip from Carpenter Hill Apartments. Police responded to Laster’s Furniture, 105 S. 6th St., where the proprietor reported a tractor-trailer had knocked out two large windows to the business. He was inside when he heard what sounded like a gunshot outside, then observed the 18-wheeler driving by and the windows damaged. Dispatch advised the driver had called and pulled over at the fairgrounds. He told police one of his tractor tires had a blowout, causing the windows to shatter. Laster’s sustained an estimated $2,000 in damages to the windows and $100 for some wooden table chairs. Both parties were advised a report would be on file.

4:50 p.m.
A Caddo Valley man reported losing his cell phone, likely at the Arkadelphia Arts Center where he had stopped to make a delivery and was approached by a beggar outside. Not realizing that his phone was missing until he returned home, he retraced his steps at several stops, to no avail. The complainant recalled that he had left his phone in his unlocked vehicle while he was at the Arts Center.

Saturday, Sept. 27
5:56 p.m.
Officers were dispatched to the Walmart parking lot for a report of two small children left unattended inside a vehicle. Police arrived and spoke with the adult caretaker, identified as Brightson Pierre Hughes, 41, of Arkadelphia. Hughes admitted to leaving the children in the car, and wasn’t in possession of a valid driver’s license. A licensed driver was contacted to pick up Hughes and the children. Hughes was issued two citations for endangering the welfare of a minor.

Felony incident still under investigation: Theft of a debit/credit card, 1400 block of Pine Street

4:53 p.m.
During an investigation into the aforementioned felony theft at Domino’s, 1412 Pine St., police spoke with a possible suspect, identified as Christopher Obryan Jones, 36, of Arkadelphia. Asked to display the contents of his backpack, Jones complied. Police found a crack pipe. Advised he was under arrest for possession of drug paraphernalia, Jones resisted, apparently violently. One of the three officers on scene, Cpl. Dexter Haddox, tasered Jones in the left buttock, but the move reportedly had no effect on his continued resistance. Officers “had to manually assist Jones in completing the task of putting his hands behind his back.” The struggle sent one policeman to the hospital for treatment of a minor scrape and sprain to his thumb.
