Marie B. Gravett, age 92, of Arkadelphia, passed from this life on Friday, August 15, 2025, at Twin Rivers Health and Rehabilitation Center in Arkadelphia. She was born December 27, 1932, in Scott County, AR, the daughter of the late Arvie Clifford and Martha Isabel Beshears Blackwell.
Marie was a 1951 graduate of England High School. She received her bachelor degree from Arkansas State University in 1961 and her masters from Henderson State University. Marie was a retired school teacher having taught at Humnoke, Kaiser, DeWitt and Arkadelphia during her career. She was a member of the Retired Teachers Association, the Quilters Club and the Garden Club. Marie was a long time member of First Baptist Church in Arkadelphia. She enjoyed gardening, quilting, woodworking and basketry in her free time.
Marie is preceded in death by her parents, her grandson, Stephen Lee Gravett, five brothers, Thurman, James, Luther, Archie and Paul Blackwell, and one sister, Mary Holland.
Survivors are her husband of seventy-two years, Bob Gravett of Arkadelphia, one son, Bobby Gravett (Gail) of Arkadelphia, one granddaughter, Stephanie Vassaur (George) of Rogers, two great grandchildren, Laken Edwards and Braxton Gravett, three great-grandchildren, Naomi, Ryder and Toby Gravett, two step-grandchildren, Derek Thornton (Christina) of Little Rock and Brandi Lalli (Jon) of Dallas, TX., one step grandson, William Vassaur, and one granddaughter in law, Kris Gravett of Arkadelphia.
Graveside services were held Wednesday, August 20, 2025, at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens with Bro. Jimmy Darby officiating.
Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Arkadelphia or Clark County Humane Society.
Pallbearers were members of the OBU Track and Field Team.
Final arrangements entrusted to The Welch Funeral Home of Arkadelphia.
