HOT HOT HEAT: The Heat Index forecast for Arkansas puts temperatures at dangerous levels through the next several days. | National Weather Service graphic

The National Weather Service in Little Rock has issued a forecast of dangerously high temperatures for Arkansas through at least Wednesday, July 23, 2025.

Upper level high pressure will dominate for the next week with temperatures on the rise. Plenty of heat and humidity is in store for Arkansas with highs well into the 90s through the weekend into early next week.

Heat index values will reach 100 degree or higher in many areas, including Southwest Arkansas.

A Heat Advisory remains in effect for Clark and most surrounding counties through 8 p.m. Thursday.

The heat index value for Arkadelphia by noon Friday is forecast to be 107 degrees, potentially the warmest day of the extended forecast.

This level of heat affects anyone without effective cooling and/or adequate hydration. Consider canceling outdoor activities during the heat of the day.

Above-normal temperatures are expected to persist across the southern central US through at least the remainder of July, the National Weather Service warned.

There are scant chances of scattered summer thunderstorms Friday and Saturday.
