Separate accidents in South Arkansas during recent days left three people dead.
An ATV accident in rural Union County left its operator dead Friday morning, July 11.
John Martindale, 60, of El Dorado, was driving a Honda TRX 520 east on Lawson Road when the four-wheeler left the roadway and struck a tree near the junction with County Road 176.
The time of the accident was 8:45 a.m., according to Trooper Victor Meza, who noted clear weather and dry road conditions at the time of the accident.
A Pine Bluff man was killed on Interstate 530 in the Jefferson County town of Redfield early Saturday, July 12, 2025.
A 1998 Jeep and 2021 Chevrolet, both northbound, collided near the 23 mile-marker, sending the Chevrolet off the highway and into several trees. The driver, 44-year-old Aaron James Mitchell, was killed.
Investigating State Trooper Zachary Means noted clear skies and dry roadways at the time of the accident, at 4:40 a.m.
An accident involving four vehicles killed a Sheridan woman Saturday afternoon, July 12.
Margaret L. Cobb, 61, was traveling north in a 2024 GMC Terrain on Highway 167. Upon her approach to Grant County 58, Cobb stopped as a Ford F-250 towing another pickup entered the highway. A 2004 Peterbilt traveling behind Cobb was unable to stop in time, striking Cobb’s vehicle in the rear and causing it to collide with the F-250.
Trooper John Crow noted clear and cloudy skies and dry roads at the time of accident, which was recorded as 1:56 p.m.
