Parkinson’s Disease Support Group to meet July 17

The recently organized Clark County Parkinson’s Disease Support Group will meet at 1 p.m. Thursday, July 17, 2025, in the parlor at Arkadelphia’s First United Methodist Church, 107 N. 9th St.

The local support group welcomes both caregivers, persons with the disorder and others with an interest. The group aims to offer encouragement, comfort and advice. The group will be a safe space to share experiences, discuss challenges and learn from others. Participants will also have opportunities to learn about medical advancements, treatment and strategies for managing symptoms.

Parkinson’s disease is a movement disorder of the nervous system that worsens over time. Tremors are common in Parkinson’s disease sufferers, but the disorder also may cause stiffness, slowing of movement and balance issues that increase the risk of falls.
