Showers and thunderstorms possible this weekend, with increasing chances early next week

The National Weather Service in Little Rock issued a Hazardous Weather Outlook for much of Arkansas ahead of the June 28-29 weekend.

Beginning Saturday, chances for showers and thunderstorms will return to the forecast across a large portion of the state each afternoon through Thursday, July 3. The combination of lower temperatures and additional cloud cover should limit heat index values to less than 105 degrees. There could be isolated instances of flash flooding where storms become stationary over the same locations for a period of time.

While organized severe weather appears low, a few storms could produce gusty winds and small hail.

The extended forecast for the Arkadelphia area calls for a slight chances of showers and thunderstorms midday Saturday and Sunday, with heat index values as high as 99.

Come Monday, rain and storm chances increase to 40% for the afternoon, with a high near 90 under mostly sunny skies. Chances again increase Tuesday to 50%, with a high near 90. Slight chances of rain continue through Thursday of next week.
