Clark County jobless rate down to 3.5%

Clark County’s unemployment rate for April 2025, not seasonally adjusted, is at 3.5%, according to a preliminary county-by-county report released by the Arkansas Division of Workforce Services.

According to the report, Clark County had a labor force of 9,738 persons with 9,395 employed and 343 unemployed. The unemployment rate fell seven-tenths of a percentage point from 4.2% reported in March. In that month the labor force grew by 230 from 9,508 persons.

For the same month in 2024, Clark County reported an unemployment rate of 3.6% with a labor force of 8,715 persons.

In the southeastern corner of the state, Desha County (Arkansas City) held the highest jobless rate in April 2025, with 6.3% of its 3,930 employable population without jobs. On the opposite corner of the state, Benton County (Springdale) reported the lowest unemployment rate in Arkansas, with 2.5% of its labor force of 167,695 without jobs.

Statewide, Arkansas’s seasonally adjusted jobless rate was at 3.7% in April. There were 1.37 million Arkansans employed in April. The U.S. unemployment rate held steady from April to May, at 4.2%, with an estimated 7.23 million Americans unemployed.

The unemployment rate for Dallas County (Fordyce) fell to 3.4%, compared to 4% the previous month. Dallas County reports a labor force of 2,677 persons with 92 unemployed.

The unemployment rate for Hot Spring County fell to 3.5%, compared to 3.8% the previous month. Hot Spring County reports a labor force of 13,511 persons with 472 unemployed.

The unemployment rate for Montgomery County (Mt. Ida) fell to 4%, compared to 4.4% the previous month. Montgomery County reports a labor force of 3,063 persons with 121 unemployed.

The unemployment rate for Pike County (Murfreesboro) fell to 3.5%, compared to 3.7% the previous month. Pike County reports a labor force of 4,245 persons with 147 unemployed.

The unemployment rate for Nevada County (Prescott) fell to 4.4%, compared to 5.1% the previous month. Nevada County reports a labor force of 2,552 persons with 113 unemployed.
