A Missouri man died after a motorcycle crash in rural Hot Spring County, Arkansas.
According to a preliminary fatal crash summary posted on May 20 by Arkansas State Police, 71-year-old Wayne William Schmid, of Saint Robert, Missouri, was involved in an April 26, 2025, wreck on state Highway 128 at Jack Mountain.
The report says Schmid was traveling westbound on a 2024 Harley Davidson when he failed to negotiate a left-hand curve near Files Ranch Road. The motorcycle traveled down a steep embankment before colliding into a ditch embankment.
Both Schmid and his passenger, Jennifer A. Schmid, 60, were separated from the vehicle. They were both taken to CHI St. Vincent Hospital in Hot Springs, where Wayne would succumb to his injuries at a later date not listed in the report.
Investigating officer Cpl. Kyle Sheldon noted clear skies and dry roads at the time of the accident, which was recorded as 12:30 p.m. Saturday, April 26.
