PHOTO: A Moderate Risk of flash flooding exists across South Arkansas
Unsettled weather is expected to return to Arkansas on Tuesday, May 6, 2025, the National Weather Service in Little Rock warned.
Over the 24-hour period extending into Wednesday morning, rainfall amounts could range from 2-4 inches over the southern portion of the state. Given the recent rains and antecedent soil conditions, there will be a Slight to Moderate Risk of excessive rainfall and flooding across portions of the state.
A Flood Watch is in effect from Tuesday morning through Wednesday morning for portions of southeastern and southwestern Arkansas, including Clark, Dallas, Ouachita and Pike counties.
Arkadelphia’s extended forecast calls for showers and possibly thunderstorms to develop Tuesday afternoon, with some storms capable of producing heavy rainfall. New rainfall amounts between 3/4 inch and 1 inch are possible. The 80% chance of precipitation in the afternoon will climb to 100% by Tuesday night with more heavy rainfall and thunderstorms.
Precipitation will linger into Wednesday with a 20% chance of showers and thunderstorms that morning, increasing to 30% for the evening hours. Rain continues for the area Thursday and Friday.
