William Arthur “Bill” Stewart, age 81, of Amity, passed from this life on Thursday , May 1, 2025, at Nightingale Health and Rehabilitation Center in Arkadelphia. He was born February 28, 1944, in Bryan, TX, the son of the late Grover Cleveland and Ollie Belle Green Stewart.
Bill was a 1962 graduate of Glenwood High School. He was a self-employed carpenter and sign painter. Bill was a United States Navy veteran of the Vietnam war. He enjoyed wood working, working on cars, drawing and painting and fixing things in his free time.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Sharon D. Stewart, two sisters, Ina Rae Johnson and Beatrice Boswell, two brothers, Grover Cleveland Stewart, Jr. and Henry Howard (Pete) Stewart.
Survivors are two sons, Craig William Stewart of Glenwood and Tim Hamilton (Rain) of Chester, VA, three daughters, Shannon Porter (David) of Amity, Kristi Rhodes of Hot Springs and Lori Byers (Jeremy) of Mansfield, MO, one sister, Muriel Diane Kinkaid of Luther, OK, fourteen grandchildren, Allison Brown (Jack), Jessica Wilson (TJ), Lance Porter, Jackson Stewart, Chase Stewart, Brendan Hamilton(Tressie), Holly Carter, Hannah Barnes (Tait), Kaitlyn Simpson (Cody), Annabelle Torres (Jose), Kennedy Rice (Shyann), Jesse Rice (Kaitlyn), Grace McCaslin and Caleb McCaslin, and eight great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday, May 6, 2025, at Amity Second Baptist Church with Pastor Jimmy Forsythe officiating.
Visitation will be from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM Tuesday at the church.
Interment with military honors will be in Mt Tabor Cemetery at Glenwood.
Memorials may be made to Second Baptist Church or Gideons International.
