Jerry Douglas Helms, age 87, of Arkadelphia, passed from this life on Thursday, April 17, 2025, at his home. He was born December 21, 1937, in Arkadelphia, the son of the late Walter and Ethel Tapley Helms.
Jerry was a graduate of Arkadelphia High School and attended Henderson State University. He was a United States Army veteran of the Vietnam War. Jerry was retired maintenance supervisor at Arkadelphia Public Schools. He was a member of Third Street Baptist Church. Jerry enjoyed spending time with his grandkids in his free time.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Roy Neal Helms.
Jerry is survived by his wife, Wilma Ruth (Wilson) Helms of Arkadelphia, two sons, Baylon Helms (Misty) of Arkadelphia and Shannon Helms (Kristy) of Springdale, one brother, Jimmy Helms of Arkadelphia, five grandchildren, Conner and Robin Tackett of Sheridan, Devyn and Alex Holloway of Hot Springs, Reese Helms of Springdale, Chloe Stone of Springdale and Colby Helms of Arkadelphia, three great-grandchildren, DeClan Holloway, Emeryn Holloway and Ryker Tackett.
Graveside services were held Monday, April 21, 2025, at Richland Cemetery with Bro. Greg Lathem officiating.
No visitation will be held.
