Dispatch Desk: April 1-6

The following incidents were gathered from reports filed at the Arkadelphia Police Department and Clark County Sheriff’s Office. Names of arrested individuals were collected at the Clark County Detention Center on Crittenden Street in Arkadelphia. They are presumed innocent until found guilty in a court of law. The Arkadelphian does not withhold names from the arrest log, so don’t even think about asking.

Tuesday, April 1
Noon
A resident reported his debit card was fraudulently used to buy a train ticket in the amount of $906. He added that a former roommate had asked to use the card to buy a train ticket; told no, the roommate apparently used it anyway and left the state.

4:05 p.m.
Management at Celebrations Fine Wine & Spirits reported a female shoplifter concealed several shooter-sized bottles of booze in the rear of her pants and walked out of the store. Confronted by an associate, the shoplifter returned the items.

4:08 p.m.
A hit-and-run parking lot accident was reported at Walmart. Damage to the complainant’s vehicle consisted of a broken headlamp.

Felony incident still under investigation: Aggravated assault, 200 block of North 11th Street

Juvenile report: Rape

8:34 p.m.
Officers were sent to the 2600 block of Golden Street for a complaint of a restraining order violation. The suspect had left the scene prior to police arrival.

Wednesday, April 2
12:35 p.m.
Management at Circle K reported a cashier pocketed about $100 from the cash register. The responding officer advised of procedures to pursue charges.

3:30 p.m.
A woman reported that a known male used her debit card to make an unauthorized online purchase totaling more than $800.

10:19 p.m.
An officer collected a wallet that was left behind in a car accident at North 10th Street and Pinewood Drive. The wallet was secured in an evidence locker as the driver was transported by ambulance to a Hot Springs hospital.

Thursday, April 3

Felony incident still under investigation: Forgery, unnamed bank

7:10 p.m.
An officer responded to Pizza Hut, where a disorderly customer reportedly threw his pie back at employees, apparently upset because his carryout order was taking too long. It was reported that the customer started yelling, cursing and getting into an employee’s face, then threw his box of pizza at other employees outside the establishment before driving off. Management was advised to contact police should the pizza slinger return.

8:58 p.m.
Officers and firefighters were dispatched to a vehicle fire at 107 N. 9th St. While AFD extinguished the SUV blaze, the owner told police she and her passengers were traveling west on Caddo Street and smelled smoke. As they approached 9th Street the Toyota Rav4 began to emit flames. They parked the car and dialed 911. AFD was unable to identify the source of the fire. The vehicle was towed from the scene.

Friday, April 4

Felony incident still under investigation: Theft, Robey Street

11 a.m.
A 23rd Street man spoke with police at Arkadelphia Pawn & Gun, where he had located a pair of hedge trimmers and a leaf blower that had been stolen from his truck the week before Christmas. Pawn shop management advised the trimmer had been pawned the first part of January and provided a name of the customer. The complainant was able to buy his trimmer back for the $40 paid to the customer.

1:24 p.m.
An Okolona man reported someone tried breaking into his vehicle the previous day at Walmart, as when he returned home he noticed a broken door handle and fingerprints. The reporting officer found no evidence of the door being tampered with.

Saturday, April 5
6:49 a.m.
Officers found an abandoned Chevrolet Cruz that had gone around barricades near the flooded intersection of Walnut Street and US Highway 67. Two wrecker services were called to remove the unoccupied vehicle. As the car was being loaded, the owner, Thaddius F. Roberts, 34, of Arkadelphia, arrived at the scene and relayed that he had allowed a friend to use the vehicle the previous night to get to work, but wouldn’t provide the friend’s name. Roberts was cited for Obstructing Governmental Operations.

Sunday, April 6
6:30 p.m.
Officers responded to Walmart for a disturbance, and met with an off-duty officer and asset protection who relayed that two males had been in the store causing a disturbance and filming the action. The suspects were identified as Christion Sansbury and Taylor Reaves, both 25-year-olds from Mabelvale. Sansbury, wearing a Walmart employee vest, reportedly climbed atop a freezer and was yelling at customers that he was stuck and needed help. The two men were also throwing loaves of bread into customer shopping carts. Frightened customers made associates abreast of the situation on their way out of the store. An off-duty policeman was shopping when he observed the two suspects, wearing camera glasses, causing the scene. Telling Sansbury he was an officer, Sansbury climbed down and attempted to flee. The off-duty officer and Walmart associates were able to apprehend both men, who had been previously banned from all Walmart stores for life. They were each issued citations for criminal trespassing, disorderly conduct and harassment, and transported to the county jail.

Wednesday, April 2
4:46 p.m.
A Central Road woman reported a known male exposed himself to her and propositioned her with a cash offering. CID was contacted to investigate the matter.
