A South 10th Street man phoned in a report of a stolen lawn mower and weed trimmer from his carport. Upon officer arrival the resident said he got a notification from his camera that there had been motion detected, and was able to ascertain two males had taken the lawn equipment. He said he spoke with his neighbor, Killian Gleaves, who relayed that two known males had offered to pay him to help repair lawn mowers that had been given to them. The two men also requested a ride to the pawn shop to sell the equipment, and they would pay him after they received cash. The complainant said his mower had been bought by Arkadelphia Gun & Pawn, where he was able to review camera footage showing Gleaves, 20, bringing the mower in and receiving $50 cash. Additional footage showed the two other men attempt to bring in the weed trimmer in, then leave once they couldn’t get it to start. While at the pawn shop, the officer spoke with a pair of Henderson Street residents who reported an edger had been taken from their home. A review of camera footage showed Gleaves selling the edger for $30 cash. While reviewing the footage, yet another theft victim entered the pawn shop inquiring about a police report she had filed recently for two stolen push mowers — she was able to identify one of her mowers. All victims were advised they could purchase their property back for the amount paid for them. After leaving the store one victim called the officer to report she and another victim had followed Gleaves to a Haddock Street residence. The officer made contact with Gleaves there. Gleaves said he was unaware the equipment had been stolen, and named two other suspects he had dropped off at an apartment on South 3rd Street. Gleaves was taken into custody and transported to the county jail for three counts of theft by receiving.

Patrolling the intersection of highways 67 and 53, Deputy Codi Hood observed a northbound pickup turn onto Arkansas Highway 53 without signaling. A traffic stop was made at the closest driveway. The driver, 60-year-old Timothy Edward Lane, of Bowen Hill Road, Gurdon, exited the vehicle, approached Hood and demanded a reason for pulling him over in his driveway. Instructed to return and stand at the back of his vehicle, Lane replied that he would stand where he wanted because it was his property. Lane repeatedly reached inside the cab of his vehicle as Hood was running his information through a crime database. Deputy Aleshia Hood arrived as backup. As the two were discussing the situation, Lane approached both deputies, swinging a long object he retrieved from the bed of his truck. Lane continued to ignore commands, and was then informed he was being detained. As Codi Hood reached for Lane’s hands, Lane grabbed the deputy’s vest carrier with both hands; Codi Hood then forced Lane to the ground and was able to flip him onto his stomach. Lane pulled his hands beneath his upper torso, and Aleshia Hood drive-stunned Lane, allowing the deputies to handcuff him and place him in a police vehicle. A search of Lane’s truck yielded a loaded .22 caliber pistol. Contact was made with the property owner, who had no idea who Lane was. Found outside the pickup was a plastic bag containing a white powdery substance believed to be methamphetamine. Lane was transported to the county jail and held for continued detention.
