Clark County’s unemployment rate for January 2025, not seasonally adjusted, is at 4.5%, according to a preliminary county-by-county report released by the Arkansas Division of Workforce Services.
According to the report, Clark County had a labor force of 9,214 persons with 8,795 employed and 419 unemployed. The unemployment rose three-tenths of a percentage point from 4.2% reported in December 2024. In that month the local labor force grew by 244 from 8,970 persons. Clark County had the third-highest jobless rate among each of its six neighboring counties.
In the southeastern corner of the state, Desha County held the highest jobless rate, with 7.5% of its 3,985 employable population without jobs. On the opposite corner of the state, Benton County (Springdale) reported the lowest unemployment rate in Arkansas, with 3% of its labor force of 162,837 without jobs.
Statewide, Arkansas’s seasonally adjusted jobless rate was at 3.6%, an increase of two-tenths of a percentage point compared to the previous month. There were 1.3 million Arkansans employed in January. The U.S. unemployment rate rose to 4% from 4.1% the previous month. An estimated 7 million Americans were unemployed in February.

The unemployment rate for Dallas County (Fordyce) rose to 4.4% from 4% the previous month. Dallas County reports a labor force of 2,675 persons with 117 unemployed.
The unemployment rate for Hot Spring County (Malvern) rose to 4.1% from 3.7% the previous month. Hot Spring County reports a labor force of 13,234 persons with 541 unemployed.
The unemployment rate for Montgomery County (Mt. Ida) rose to 5.4% from 5.2% the previous month. Montgomery County reports a labor force of 2,893 persons with 155 unemployed.
The unemployment rate for Nevada County (Prescott) rose to 5.4% from 3.7% the previous month. Nevada County reports a labor force of 2,461 persons with 134 unemployed.
The unemployment rate for Ouachita County (Camden) rose to 4.6% from 3.9% the previous month. Ouachita County reports a labor force of 9,040 persons with 414 unemployed.
The unemployment rate for Pike County (Murfreesboro) fell one-tenths of a percentage point to 3.8% in January. Pike County reports a labor force of 4,209 persons with 160 unemployed.
