Clark County’s unemployment rate for December 2024, not seasonally adjusted, is at 4.2%, according to a preliminary county-by-county report released by the Arkansas Division of Workforce Services.
According to the report, Clark County had a labor force of 8,970 persons with 8,589 employed and 381 unemployed. This compares to November’s labor force of 8,998 with 8,631 employed and 367 unemployed.
The unemployment rose one-tenth of a percentage point from 4.1% reported in November. Clark County had the second-highest jobless rate among each of its six neighboring counties, second to Montgomery County.
In the extreme southeastern corner of the state, Chicot County maintained the highest jobless rate, with 6.8% of its 2,733 employable population without jobs. On the opposite corner of the state, Washington County (Fayetteville) again reported the lowest unemployment rate in Arkansas, with 2.4% of its labor force of 141,402 without jobs.
Statewide, Arkansas’s seasonally adjusted jobless rate was at 3.4%, a slight increase of one-tenth of a percentage point compared to the previous month. The U.S. unemployment rate fell from 4.2% to 4%. An estimated 6.84 million Americans were unemployed in January.

The unemployment rate for Dallas County (Fordyce) is at 4% in December, up from 3.6% the previous month. Dallas County reports a labor force of 2,630 persons with 104 unemployed.
The unemployment rate for Hot Spring County (Malvern) is at 3.7% in December, up from 3.4% the previous month. Hot Spring County reports a labor force of 13,766 persons with 511 unemployed.
The unemployment rate for Montgomery County (Mt. Ida) is at 5.2% in December, up from 4.4% the previous month. Montgomery County reports a labor force of 2,724 persons with 143 unemployed.
The unemployment rate for Nevada County (Prescott) is at 3.7% in December, up from 3.5% the previous month. Nevada County reports a labor force of 3,199 persons with 118 unemployed.
The unemployment rate for Ouachita County (Camden) is at 3.9% in December, up from 3.7% the previous month. Ouachita County reports a labor force of 9,774 persons with 382 unemployed.
The unemployment rate for Pike County (Murfreesboro) is at 3.9% in December, up from 3.5% the previous month. Pike County reports a labor force of 3,901 persons with 152 unemployed.
