‘Ice Pick Bandit’ strikes again at Gurdon truck stop

By JOE MAY | The Southern Standard

A suspect or suspects dubbed the “Ice Pick Bandit” has again struck at a local truck stop.

According to Clark County Sheriff Jason Watson, at some point on the night of Sunday, Jan. 19, 2025, nine 18-wheelers at South Fork Truck Stop in Gurdon had 70 tires destroyed, which the sheriff said could be as much as $45,000 in damage. The same thing happened back in September, he said.

The suspect had struck the previous week in Georgia and Florida, puncturing at least 1,000 tires in a matter of days, according to an online trucking magazine. The incidents have been happening since 2023.

The suspect has been captured on video in Florida and Tennessee. He appears to be a white male, 30-40 years old and wearing a mustache. Watson said he is working to find local video, adding that he thinks the suspect may be parking elsewhere and walking to the truck stops. No motive for the vandalism has been given, but the sheriff theorizes it could be a former DOT officer or someone who had a loved one injured by a truck driver.

“There’s no rhyme or reason with the trucks he picks,” Watson said. “We just can’t figure out the motivation of this guy.”
