The following incidents were gathered from reports filed at the Arkadelphia Police Department and Clark County Sheriff’s Office. Names of arrested individuals were collected at the Clark County Detention Center on Crittenden Street in Arkadelphia. They are presumed innocent until found guilty in a court of law. The Arkadelphian does not withhold names from the arrest log, so don’t even think about asking.

A South 1st Street man, who had been the victim of a previous theft of his Xbox, went to the police department to report additional items had been stolen, including a 9-inch knife and $200 cash, and provided an officer with the name of an additional suspect, a Gurdon man, who drove the thief to and from his apartment. The following day, unhappy with the fact police hadn’t included the driver as a suspect in the police report, the complainant reportedly changed his story to accuse the driver of getting him drunk to sexually assault him. Advised that filing a false police report is a crime, the man reneged the claim and admitted he participated willingly in the sexual activity, but was adamant that the third party was actively stealing his belongings during the intercourse. He was advised that his report would be updated.

A health care worker reported someone left a strange note beneath a brick beside her car while visiting a neighboring client on North 6th Street. The note requested the return of several miscellaneous items, and had been one of many left on her vehicle in her recent visits with the neighbor. An officer spoke with the scribe, whose porch contained multiple posted hand-written signs, and learned the elderly lady has a practice of leaving notes when items from her home come up missing. She added that the ritual has worked in the past, as 13 empty clothes hangers apparently made their way back to her closet after she left a note asking for their return. The complainant was advised to start parking her vehicle in front of someone else’s residence.

Felony incident still under investigation: Breaking or Entering, Beene’s Towing & Recovery
10:37 a.m.
Officers were called to Dollar General, 2727 Caddo St., for a report of a pedestrian being struck by a vehicle in the parking lot. The call came from the store manager so that the victim could continue shopping. Officers spoke with the 34-year-old victim, an Arkadelphia woman who relayed that a vehicle leaving the store had backed into her as she was walking across the parking lot. She was unable to provide police with a license plate number, but described the vehicle as a black SUV whose driver left the scene when confronted. The victim denied injury and declined medical attention. Police watched surveillance footage that showed the SUV back slowly from a parking spot in front of the store, as well as the purported victim veer from their direct path to the store and into the path of the vehicle. No contact was visible due to the camera angle and light wash. Officers advised they would attempt to locate and identify the SUV.
